Dr Anita’s Personal Journey of Healing

Personal Challenge

It is said that going through a personal challenge is a very important part of a counsellor’s growth as it helps develop empathy and compassion required for this role.

My own journey in alternative healing began as a result of a challenge that I faced in my life. I had always been a very ambitious person and had a flourishing career in my chosen field of teaching. But after my kids were born and my husband got very busy with his career, I decided to quit to take better care of my family. It was entirely my own decision but after some time I started to feel tied down and this manifested physically in the form of migraine. I had to take heavy medication to deal with it but it just made me sleepy and irritable. I became socially withdrawn which impacted my personal and social life and also took a toll on my physical health.

Finding My Path

At this point one of my friends suggested that I go for a Reiki workshop. As a logical person I was not convinced that an invisible energy could work towards healing us.

I initially went as a sceptic but gradually felt that there was more clarity in my mind. I could feel a decline in my frustration and irritability. This motivated me to continue and finally after one year I became a Reiki master under international Reiki master Dr William Hauw.

Overcoming Obstacles

On the personal front I realised that my migraine was not just a physical issue, it was a result of a tussle between my conscious and subconscious mind wherein consciously I had decided to quit my career but subconsciously I was not ready for that.

I realised that whenever there is a gap between what you are and what you want to be, ‘dis-ease’ starts setting in. I further studied the connection between the body and the mind; then among body, mind and soul and could find answers to lead a more fulfilling life.

This has been my journey which continues till date and I keep on discovering new and different aspects of it on the way.

Science and Spirituality

Through this journey, I realised that there is a point where science and spirituality meet and that is a basis to alternative healing. I decided to research further on this topic and wrote a book on Alternative Therapies.

I believe that our emotional, physical and spiritual wellness are strongly connected. The root cause of any physical ailment lies in our thought process and the way we deal with our emotions. Natural healing modalities take us through a journey of self awareness wherein we get to realise our own potential and work on ourselves at a fundamental level.

Thus it becomes a tool for overall well – being.
